The vegetation in the reserve consists mainly of montane fynbos (heath), and birds suchas the black eagle, orange-breasted sunbird and Cape sugerbird may be observed. Several small antelope species occur naturally in the area and it is planned to bring in other game species. Leopard and caracal are also found in the area. Location: Western part of the province; east of Robertson. Access: From the R60 (Robertson/Ashton) take the signpost left turnoff to Klaasvoogds/Kaktustuin; the road is 9 km from Robertson and 9 km from Ashton. Follow it for 6 km to Bergplaas. All bookings must be done in advance. Accommodation: 1 3- and 1 4-bedroomed farmhouse, each fully equipped, including all bedding, hot and cold water (37,50 per person per night for a minimum of 2 nights); self-catering; 1-room semi-detached, fully equipped cottages. Other facilities: Approximately 40 km of hiking trails; bass fishing. Open: Throughout the year. |
